Jean Valjean begins his parole after 19 years of imprisonment and sets out to lead an honest life, but when he breaks parole to help an orphaned girl he has adopted he is hunted by the relentless Inspector Javert.
Years later he rescues a young student revolutionary who is in love with his daughter and later saves the life of Javert. He dies in peace seeing his child safe and happy.
