Wednesday 12th May to Tuesday 22nd June For hundreds of years cloth has been embellished to add value and also to express love. Joanna continues a family tradition of embroidery and is a passionate advocate of all things handmade. She uses recycled cloth to make precious tokens, purses and panels. These are then embroidered with words that express powerful sentiments. The phrases are taken from a range of sources, from medieval love letters through to modern poetry and quotations. The work has a quiet but strong presence that evokes treasured textiles and a sense of fragile history.
