'Healthy Eating, Healthy Living' - Shools' Showcase 2010

Tuesday 30th March to Tuesday 20th April
Number 8 has been working in partnership with six local schools and two local artists to produce an original and vibrant exhibition of artwork around the theme ‘Healthy Eating, Healthy Living’.

During the project school children took part in workshops led by local artists Jack Forrest and Paul Adams-Groom, then went on to develop their final pieces with the help of their class teachers.  The way in which the artists and children interpreted the theme ranged from ‘fruit faces’ to healthy collages and mono-prints of bicycles.  The final pieces demonstrate various ideas about healthy lifestyles and an enthusiastic response to a variety of media and techniques.

At the end of the project, five pieces of artwork from each school were selected by a panel for exhibition in the Number 8 Gallery.  These were digitally photographed and printed onto the stretched canvases seen in the final display.

It is possible to order prints or canvases of each piece of work in the exhibition from the Number 8 Box Office. Prints are priced at £16 and canvases are priced at £32.

This project was supported by Wychavon District Council.  Participating schools include Abbey Park First School, Abbey Park Middle School, Cherry Orchard First School, Holy Redeemer Primary School, Sedgeberrow First School and Defford-cum-Besford First School.
