The Grocer’s Son (12A)

Wednesday 8th July to Wednesday 8th July

Thursday 9th July – 7.30pm

Directed by Eric Guirado
French with subtitles

A laid-back and elegant story of a thirty-something son forced to come back from the city to help his elderly parents with the family business in Provence. Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the summertime Provencal countryside this is a coming-of-age film with a difference.  Surly Antoine (Nicolas Cazalé) finds himself driving the family grocery cart from hamlet to hamlet accompanied by Claire (Clotilde Hesme), a friend from Paris whom he has a secret crush on.  As days pass, he slowly lets go of his aspirations, relaxes into the riches and warmth of the community and rediscovers life and love in the countryside.

Running time: 99mins
