Amnesty International Film Night: Skin (12A) (PH)

Thursday 7th October 2010
7.30pm

Directed by Anthony Fabian

One of the most moving stories to emerge from apartheid South Africa, Skin stars Sophie Okonedo (Hotel Rwanda, Mrs Mandela) as Sandra Laing, a black child born in the 1950s to white Afrikaners who are unaware of their black ancestry. Her parents are rural shopkeepers serving the local black community, who lovingly bring her up as their ‘white’ little girl. But at the age of ten, Sandra is driven out of white society. A story of family, forgiveness and the triumph of the human spirit Skin follows Sandra’s 30 year journey from rejection to acceptance, betrayal to reconciliation, as she struggles to define her place in a changing world.

The screening will be followed by a question and answer session with the Director of the film, Anthony Fabian.

Organised by Amnesty International.

Tickets: £5, including a complimentary glass of wine

Running Time: 107mins
