In the early summer of 1956, 23 year old Colin Clark (Eddie Redmayne) a graduate determined to make his way in the film business, worked as an assistant on the set of The Prince and the Showgirl, the film that famously united Sir Laurence Olivier (Kenneth Branagh) and Marilyn Monroe (Michelle Williams).
When Marilyn’s new husband, playwright Arthur Miller (Dougray Scott) leaves England, the coast is clear for Colin to introduce Marilyn to some of the pleasures of British life. This film tells the story of an idyllic week in which he escorts Monroe, taking her away from Hollywood hangers-on and the pressures of work.
The screening on Monday 9 January at 7.30pm is no longer available with subtitles for those with hearing loss.
