This moving story explores the power of the unbreakable bond between mother and child.  Karen (Annette Bening) is a bitter, unhappy spinster coping with the death of her mother and the lifelong feelings of regret over the child she gave up for adoption when she was fourteen. 

 

Elizabeth (Naomi Watts), the grown up daughter she’s never met, is now an ambitious lawyer who has trouble making emotional connections and Lucy (Kerry Washington) is an infertile wife who longs to experience the joys of motherhood and turns to adoption as the key to the maternity she passionately craves.  Cleverly interweaving the stories of these three women Mother & Child runs deep with emotion and boasts outstanding performances.  Also starring Samuel L. Jackson and Jimmy Smits.
