Kenneth Branagh made his feature-film directorial debut and took the title role in this adaptation of Shakespeare's play about the English King's bloody conquest of France. 

Perhaps Branagh's most fully realised Shakespeare adaptation, Henry V is an energetic, passionate, and wonderfully acted film.

With an impressive cast list including Derek Jacobi, Paul Scofield, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Briers, Geoffrey Hutchings, Robert Stephens, Judi Dench, Ian Holm and Emma Thompson.

The film will be preceeded by a short talk from Professor Tony Davies.


Tony is the author of Filming Shakespeare's Plays (1988) and Shakespeare and the Moving Image co-edited with Professor Stanley Wells (1994).

He has addressed international conferences on Shakespeare and Film in Valencia, Malaga, Los Angeles, Austin in Texas, New York, The University of Queensland in Brisbane, Tokyo, Stratford-upon-Avon, Cape Town and Grahamstown in South Africa. In 1989 he was interviewed about filmed Shakespeare plays on BBC Radio 3.

He has worked as an actor and has directed Shakespeare plays for the stage, and has a busy schedule as a public speaker to various clubs and societies.
