Elmley Castle Art Class - '15 into 8'

The class was formed 8 years ago with 20 members in response to local interest. There was a desire to improve painting skills and techniques and they were fortunate to enlist the services of Malcolm Brookes A.T.D, R.B.S.A,R.cam.A, who has guided them through a wide ranging syllabus, indoors during autumn and winter and out of doors during the summer. Membership includes professional and semi-professional artists but most members are enthusiastic amateurs.

Regular outings have been made to art galleries such as the Ashmolean Museum, the Lowry, Walsall Art Gallery, Birmingham Art Gallery, The Barber Institute, The National Museum of Wales, The West of England Academy, and Nature in Art, Twigworth.

Exhibitions have been held in local libraries and village halls; these experiences have added acertain vibrancy to their work leading to 15 into 8, their first exhibition at Number 8 and all these experiences have added a certain vibrancy to our work. Members present a miscellany of paintings in various media, depicting local landscapes, townscapes, still life and subjects further afield.

Gallery Exhibitions are open Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm
