It's known that Aethelflaeda, the daughter of King Alfred, often visited the early monastery at Pershore, whilst relics of his grand-daughter, acquired for the abbey, resulted in the town becoming something of a pilgrimage centre. It's said that King John would pray at St. Andrews en route for Worcester and it's thought that Queen Elizabeth once stayed at ‘The Angel', then an active coaching inn on the road from London to Aberystwyth.
It's a matter of record that in 1830 Princess Victoria, with her mother the Duchess of Kent stayed at ‘The Three Tuns' on their way to Malvern. Later visits include one from Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, to the Horticultural College and also to the airfield, whist Princess Margaret called at the town in 1957. Princess Alexandra attended a Service at the Abbey to commemorate Pershore's own millennium in 1972, and who can forget that exciting hot July day when Price Phillip declared our own Number 8 officially open.
Craft Exhibitions are open from Monday to Saturday 10am - 4pm.
