The Boy Friend is a nostalgic and amusing musical comedy set in 1926. It is Carnival time and the charming pupils of Madame Dubonnet’s finishing school in Nice have only one thing on their minds – to find a Boy Friend! An English Heiress, Polly Browne, falls in love with a delivery boy, Madame Dubonnet rekindles an old flame and Maisie (one of the pupils) believes safety in numbers is best! Adding to the fun is Lord Brockhurst and Dulcie agreeing that even though he may be too old to run a mile or climb a stile, it’s never too late to fall in love!
The well-known numbers, “I Could Be Happy With You”, “It’s Nicer in Nice”, “The You-don’t- want –to- play-with-me Blues”, “It’s Never too Late to Fall in Love”, “Poor Little Pierrette” and of course the epitome of the 1920s, “Won’t You Charleston With Me?” all set in the care free world of the French Riviera guarantee an evening of foot-tapping fun and laughter.
