Volante Strings

Volante Strings is a small string orchestra founded in 1999, made up of some of Worcestershire’s best players led by Angela Richey, in chamber style. Its repertoire is varied, with the core of classic works now extended to include music in a lighter vein. It complements its repertoire by working with soloists of local and national standing and tonight they are delighted to welcome Worcestershire violinist Shulah Oliver to perform two of Vivaldi’s Seasons and mezzo-soprano Dorothy Longfils to sing a selection of traditional British songs.

The programme also includes the delightful but rarely performed Serenade by Dag Wiren, the Scherzo from Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings and some foot-tapping ragtime by Scott Joplin.
