The Fire Fighting First Aiders are running free first aid training sessions at Number 8 on Friday 16 February.
Number 8 is a thriving Community Arts Centre inspired and led by the people of Pershore. Our mission is to provide arts and leisure activities to its local community and beyond with the aim of improving the social well-being of the inhabitants of Pershore and surrounding areas.
Number 8 offers a vibrant programme of film (with 35mm, digital projection and 3D), live events (including music, theatre and dance), events beamed in via satellite such as ballets, operas and the National Theatre Live seasons.
We run a programme of creative courses including popular Youth Theatre and Chance to Dance dance classes for over 55s. Number 8 also hosts a popular monthly readers’ group. Within our coffee bar gallery space we have a continuous programme of art and designer craft exhibitions.
The venue is also home to Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society who are our resident amateur company and a host of arts and leisure courses such as yoga, art classes and ballet. The venue is available for hire by community groups or the corporate sector for regular classes, conferences, meetings or training events.
Number 8 also runs the After 8 Charity Shop situated just around the corner at 23 Broad Street selling secondhand books, furniture, bric-a-brac, DVDs, jewellery and CDs, and locally made craft items. The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday 9.30am – 4.30pm. Donations are welcome – just bring them along to the shop or contact Sheila Booth on 07484542567 or firstname.lastname@example.org to make arrangements. All proceeds from Just After 8 will suport the re-development of the Number 8 foyer area which is planned for summer 2017.
Fully integrated into the community of Pershore Number 8 was inspired by the local community, realised by the local community and is now supported by them operationally and as attendees. With registered charity status the organisation is governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by a team of three full-time paid staff, three part-time staff and over 200 volunteers.
Number 8 aims to provide high quality, professional arts products and activities for all its patrons. High standards, professionalism and community ownership lies at the heart of the venue’s operation.
