Pershore Heritage Centre - 'Royal Visits'

Thursday 27th March to Wednesday 7th May

It's known that Aethelflaeda, the daughter of King Alfred, often visited the early monastery at Pershore, whilst relics of his grand-daughter, acquired for the abbey, resulted in the town becoming something of a pilgrimage centre.  It's said that King John would pray at St. Andrews en route for Worcester and it's thought that Queen Elizabeth once stayed at ‘The Angel', then an active coaching inn on the road from London to Aberystwyth.

Mike Bagshaw - 'Characters & Character - A Portrait Exhibition'

Thursday 17th April to Tuesday 6th May

Dr Mike Bagshaw has put together an exhibition of his portraits. Mostly they are family and friends from the Evesham and Pershore area.  Mike originally comes from Salford near Manchester where for a while as a child he was taught by the internationally acclaimed portrait artist Harold Riley.

Mark Hancock - 'Delicate & with a Difference'

Thursday 8th May to Wednesday 18th June

Mark specialises in high quality turned decorative and functional bowls and individual vessels using simple designs to bring out the natural beauty and variations in colour, texture and figuring of local timbers. Most of his recent work is more an exploration of line and form rather than an effort at an artistic statement. He turns thin walled vessels and with each piece strives to make a perfect form or at least something a little closer to it than anything he has done before. Then, trying to achieve the purist possible curve, areas are carved away adding life and movement to each piece.

Jonathan Pitts - 'Beside the Avon'

Following the River Avon from Stratford to Tewkesbury, this exhibition takes the viewer on a journey through the beautiful surroundings and historical landmarks.  ‘I make the paintings outside.  Plein air paintings allows me to make a direct visual response, I react instinctively to the environment.'
