Orchestra of the Swan

Bach to the Future

Bach                    Brandenburg Concerto No.5
Rutter                  Suite Antique
Vivaldi                 Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor
Respighi              Ancient Airs & Dances

Brandenburg No.5 showcases perfectly the qualities and virtuosity of our principal violin, David le Page, and flute, Diane Clark; similarly Rutter, inspired by Bach, pays homage to Bach’s chosen musical forces as well as the ‘forms and styles of Bach’s day’.

OOTS’ principal cellos, Nick Stringfellow and Chris Allan, shine with the Vivaldi concerto, and the concert culminates in three bold and vivid suites, transcribed for orchestra from original pieces for lute by four composers of the early 17th century.

Conducted by David Curtis.
