Banditbirds – ‘Feather & Fur’

A mix of stitch and graphite celebrating British wildlife from family collaboration, Banditbirds.

“For as long as I can remember I have always drawn and, like so many of us, have been brought up on the amazing wildlife documentaries on the BBC. Growing up in London the British countryside has always been an exciting place for me, filled with treasures to discover and draw.  As time went on drawings became paintings of fauna and flora, until university when animals became vehicles of political points of view, representing everyman. Now I have grandchildren I have returned to the animal characters in stories told to us at bed time. Characters that remind us of people we know and protect us. These characters are made with skills and techniques taught to me by my parents, just as they stitched, embroidered, knitted and crocheted each of them into life at bedtime.”  Sara
