Denzel Washington directs and stars in this powerful adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play set in 50s Pittsburgh. Troy Maxson (Washington) once dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player but now makes his living as a sanitation worker. Bitter that baseball’s colour barrier was only broken when he was too old to join the major leagues, Troy takes out his frustrations on his loved ones, particularly his wife (Viola Davis, in a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress winning performance) and son (Jovan Adepo).
Directed by Denzel Washington.
