A thriving community arts centre inspired and led by the people of Pershore.
As a registered charity (no. 1089301) our mission is to provide arts, leisure, and arts education activities to the local community and beyond with the aim of improving the social wellbeing of the inhabitants of Pershore and surrounding areas. Fully integrated into the community of Pershore Number 8 was inspired by the local community, realised by the local community and is now supported by them operationally and as attendees. With registered charity status the organisation is governed by a Board of Trustees and managed by a team of four full-time paid staff, three part-time paid staff and over 200 volunteers.
Number 8 offers a vibrant programme of film (with digital projection and 3D), live events (including music, theatre and dance), plus events beamed in via satellite such as ballets, operas and the National Theatre Live seasons. We run a programme of creative courses including Chance to Dance classes for over 55s. Number 8 also hosts two popular monthly readers’ groups. Within The Foyer, our coffee bar/gallery space, we have a continuous programme of art and designer craft exhibitions and informal performances and events.
Number 8 also runs the Just After 8 Charity Shop situated just around the corner at 23 Broad Street selling second-hand books, furniture, bric-a-brac, DVDs, jewellery, CDs, and locally made craft items. The shop is open Wednesday to Saturday, 10am – 4pm. Funds raised by the shop help to support Number 8’s activities and special projects.
Number 8 aims to provide high quality, professional arts events and activities for all its patrons. High standards, professionalism and community ownership lie at the heart of our operation.
Number 8 has been a very significant element in the regeneration of Pershore and as such has been a major beneficiary of funds provided by Advantage West Midlands and Wychavon District Council.
A small team of full and part-time paid staff work alongside a pool of over 230 volunteers to bring you Number 8’s extensive programme of events, films, creative courses and exhibitions.
Number 8 is home to Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society, our resident amateur company, who rehearse regularly at Number 8 and perform two shows each year.
In addition to Number 8’s programme we also play host to a number of local organisations who use space at Number 8 for their arts and leisure activity.
Are you looking for a special gift? In addition to the sale of artwork and crafts from our exhibitions Number 8 has a range of items available that make great gifts.
