In 16th-century England,
Agnes (Jessie Buckley) and William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) are a loving
couple whose world is shattered when their only son, 11-year-old Hamnet, dies.
As grief takes hold, Agnes struggles to come to terms with the loss, while Shakespeare
channels his sorrow into his work, parking a journey that may lead to his
greatest play, Hamlet.
