Berliner Philharmoniker LIVE: New Year’s Eve Concert

Bringing 2023 to a close in style, the Berlin Philharmoniker present a dramatic programme of Wagner with world-renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann as special guest, broadcast live from Berlin.

The programme opens with excerpts from Tannhäuser that encapsulate the grandeur of Wagner’s great work. Chief conductor Kirill Petrenko, an acclaimed interpreter of Wagner, then conducts the first act of Walküre with Kaufmann as Segmund. In what has become for him a signature role, Kaufmann is passionate, radiant and combative in his portrayal of the tragic hero at the centre of a love triangle that confronts us with emotional extremes.
