Calamity Jane (U)

The Deadwood Stage is rolling back into town! Doris Day stars as Calamity Jane the gun-toting, whip-cracking, wild-west whirlwind who promises to save the Deadwood City saloon from ruin. Venturing to Chicago to recruit the famous singer Adelaid Adams, Calamity mistakenly brings Adelaid’s maid Katie (Allyn Ann McLerie) instead. Katie seizes her opportunity to take to the stage, performing for the town’s menfolk including handsome Lt Danny Gillmartin (Philip Carey) and ‘Wild Bill’ Bill Hickok (Howard Keel).

Calamity Jane is a classic Golden Age musical with fabulous songs including ‘The Deadwood Stage (Whip-Crack-Away)’, ‘Just Blew in from the Windy City’ and the Oscar ™ winning ‘Secret Love’, and glorious Technicolor scenery and costumes.

Directed by David Butler.
