Worcestershire-based actor Tom Simpson presents a semi-biographical play based on extracts from genuine letters sent home to his great grandfather Ted by his brother Fred during WWI. This one-man show follows Fred’s journey as he makes the transition from the coal mine to the front line. Desperate for adventure and hopeful for a greater destiny, he will jump at any opportunity that presents itself. When Great Britain declares war on Germany in 1914, naïve colliery horse driver Fred will finally get his adventure – but at what cost?
The production has gained critical acclaim from its previous outings at the Henrician theatre in Evesham and the Etcetera Theatre at the Camden Fringe. Expect a versatile set, wartime song and a Private on a mission!
