The New Boy (12A)

This captivating drama set in 1940s Australia tells the story of a nine-year-old Aboriginal orphan (Aswan Reid), who arrives in the dead of the night at a remote monastery run by a renegade nun (Cate Blanchett).

The arrival of the ‘new boy’ unsettles the delicate balance of the monastery, and as his Indigenous spirituality clashes with Sister Eileen’s Christian teachings she must make a choice: uphold tradition or embrace what comes next… Featuring a haunting soundtrack from Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Directed by Warwick Thornton.
