Truth & Lies Workshop: Poetry – ‘Truth’

Do you have a way with words? A penchant for poetry?

This creative writing workshop with prize-winning poet Sarah James/Leavesley will explore how writers can use truths and tension in poetry and spoken word. Participants will look at techniques for creating dramatic tension and enhancing poems intended for performance. Writers will also draw on their own truths from daily life or their imagination as inspiration for producing new poems and spoken word pieces to be read or performed at the Truth & Lies Showcase performance evening on Saturday 27 April.

No previous experience is needed, just a willingness to have fun with words and performance.

Please bring a pen and paper.

Sarah is the author of nine poetry titles, an Arts Council England funded multimedia hypertext poetry narrative, two novellas and a touring poetry-play. Her website can be found at
