The play Diary of a Badminton Player is a heartfelt and quirky comedy about a busy middle-aged man facing the difficulties of ageing and trying to maintain his status as Worcester’s top badminton celebrity.
Colin Cosgrove is a busy man. He’s running badminton training sessions, his supply teaching job is going ‘great guns’ and his food delivery work keeps him busy on a Saturday night. But then it all starts to go a little bit wrong. Is he losing his mojo? Can he get it back? Can he maintain his status as a top badminton celebrity in Worcester?
Diary of a Badminton Player is a show about the difficulties of ageing and finding things to do all while trying to remain a local hero. Enjoy Colin’s shenanigans, take one of his badminton lessons, learn to draw, and maybe even offer him large sums of money! Will Colin’s downhill slide continue, or is there hope for him and all of us as we write the next chapter in our lives? The Diary of a Badminton Player is part of a celebration of new writing at Number 8, which will also include the Truth & Lies Showcase on Saturday 27 April, 7.30pm. The showcase is a performance event featuring poetry, spoken word and writing for the stage that was created in the workshops, performed live on stage by the creators and local actors.
