We expect everyone to behave in a respectful, acceptable and appropriate manner while on our premises. Number 8 will not tolerate abuse, harassment or violence towards any visitor, volunteer, member of staff, artist, or performer.
Refreshments
Our coffee bar serving hot and cold drinks, cakes and snacks is open Monday to Saturday 10am – 4pm. The evening bar is open one hour prior to screenings. A range of refreshments, including canned alcoholic drinks, are available to take into the auditorium with you. No drinking glasses or glass bottles are allowed in the auditorium.
Number 8 is a popcorn free zone, popcorn cannot be purchased or consumed on the premises. The consumption of alcoholic beverages that have not been purchased on the premises is strictly forbidden.
Families & Children
Families with children are welcome at Number 8 and breastfeeding is allowed anywhere on site. The ground floor of The Foyer, Box Office, coffee bar, gallery space and toilet facilities are fully accessible to pushchairs and wheelchair users.
Number 8 welcomes young audiences to appropriate screenings and events. Film screenings are classified by the British Board of Film Classification as 18, 15 12A, PG or U and access is restricted in line with these classifications. For further details click here.
Children aged 11 and under must be accompanied by an adult (16+) at screenings and events. We always recommend that children are accompanied by an adult, but will admit children aged 12 and over without accompaniment. Children under three are admitted free of charge to screenings and events if they are to be seated on a parent/guardian’s lap.
Smoking
Smoking or the use of electronic cigarettes is prohibited in all spaces within the premises.
Animals
The only animals permitted on the premises are Assistance Dogs.
Personal Belongings
Please keep your personal belongings with you at all times. If you are attending a screening or event coats may be left, at your own risk, in the Cloakroom area within the lobby. Number 8 does take any responsibility for items lost or stolen.
Noise
To ensure an enjoyable visit for everyone, we politely request that you avoid making excessive noise that might disturb others. The playing of audio is prohibited in The Foyer coffee bar gallery space and the auditorium. Audiences are required to set mobile devices to silent during screenings and performances and are asked to respect others by refraining from chatting during screenings or performances.
Photography
The use of cameras or recording devices in the auditorium is strictly prohibited.
Latecomers
Performances start promptly. For live and satellite events admission for latecomers is at the Duty Manager’s discretion. Latecomers will only be permitted if there is a convenient break in the performance. For certain shows there may not be a convenient break in the performance so no latecomers will be admitted.
If our staff or volunteers think you may be causing unreasonable disturbance to other visitors, contravening one of our policies, or endangering yourself, others, or our property and spaces, you may be asked to leave the building.
